A lot is being speculated about the upcoming 7th season of CW’s Riverdale. Finally, some details are out, fueling viewers’ anticipation for the next season.
The usual Riverdale crew, including K.J. Apa, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, and Cole Sprouse, are appearing in their usual roles.
Riverdale is a web series adapted from Archie Comics. The first season of this psychological teen drama was first released in 2017. The young lead cast includes:

The transition from Riverdale’s sixth season to the seventh season
Riverdale Season 6 brought a new plotline to Riverdale. The characters gain superpowers. It was an attempt to crossover with Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina Spellman, an imaginative reinterpretation of the character from her Netflix show. Cheryl Blossom gained new superpowers of pyrokinesis, where she can mind-control fire. Cheryl’s pyrokinesis is a great plot point and helps Riverdale residents escape near extinction. The sequences leading to Riverdale’s season 6 finale took the series off-track for a while. However, the characters regained their footing in a final scene that was a real head-scratcher. Riverdale season 6 was concluded on July 31st, 2022, sending the characters back in time with a powerful cliffhanger. This sets up an amazing plot for season 7.
After Cheryl uses her powers to stop Bailey’s Comet, the scene depicts Archie waking up in 1955. The gang doesn’t have any recollection of the future life they have spent in previous seasons. Instead, they seemingly are enjoying a carefree life in a simpler time. Only Jughead seems to remember the events, as we can hear his omnipresent narration. We can expect the 7th season to take off right from where 6th ended in the 1950s.
Who can Return in season 7?
As the entire Riverdale will seemingly wake up back in time, we can expect most of the cast to reemerge in season 7. K.J. Apa, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, and Madelaine Petsch are all expected to come back for season 7, along with Alvin Sanders and Madchen Amick. Trevor Stines playing Jason Blossom can also be there. We can expect his return because the 7th season proceeds before his murder that happened way after 1955, in season 1.
Will the Riverdale saga end with Season 7?
It was announced in March 2022 that Riverdale, along with the other CW shows Superman & Lois, Nancy Drew, The Flash, and Kung Fu, would be renewed for a seventh season. The series’ 7th season would be the final one. This follows The CW’s current strategy of canceling a slew of shows such as Charmed, Batwoman, Dynasty, 4400, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Riverdale, unlike the mentioned shows, will have the opportunity to finish its storylines in a fitting farewell season as one of the CW’s longest-running series.
Season 7 release date
Riverdale season 7’s premiere date has yet to be announced. Riverdale season 7 will likely end with 22 episodes. There are no indications that it will be cut short for any reason. Riverdale season 7 could air in midseason 2023, although filming has not begun.
