The creator of She-Hulk, Jessica Gao, says it was Kevin Feige’s idea to include Skaar’s surprise cameo in the series finale. The She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in representing people with exceptional abilities. She works for these people, making them adjust to a new and challenging reality when she learns she can change into the superhero, She-Hulk. Due to the show’s consistency with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU devotees were thrilled when it premiered in August. Moreover, after the introduction of Wil Deusner’s Skaar, many eagerly anticipate his continued involvement in MCU productions.
Fans of the Marvel comics will know that Skaar, like his father Bruce Banner, can turn into the Hulk. Having been conceived while Banner was stationed on Sakaar, he is typically portrayed as a powerful warrior who employs the planet’s energy, Old Power. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) was the last time we saw Banner on Sakaar, though he was inside one of its spacecrafts in an episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In the series conclusion, “Whose Show Is This?” Walters’ cousin unexpectedly returned to introduce Skaar to the family. His first appearance is quick and silent, but it bodes well for the MCU’s character and future.
According to Gao’s recent interview with EW, Kevin Feige was the one who came up with the concept of having Skaar make a surprise cameo. There were many discussions on which character could make a cameo appearance in the series finale. Finally, it was decided that it would be “very great” for a new character to appear in the show. Here are some of Gao’s thoughts on the surprise guest appearance:
“Initially, when we first started talking about how the season would end, we were like, ‘It’d be fun if we did a big cameo at the very, very end, the last scene, the last moment, a big cameo from the MCU. That’d be really cool.’ But then we realized that’s so dependent on who’s willing to do it, what their availability is, and there’s just no way at the scripting stage that we would be able to get any sort of guarantees on who would be able to do it. It’s so dependent on that that you can’t really commit to a person in the script. So, then we thought it would be really cool if we could tease a new character at the end, either as the last moment of the last scene or even as a post-credits tag.”
“It was Kevin himself who decided that it should be Skaar, so direct all future questions about that to the man himself.”
How and When Skaar, the Hulk’s Son, Might Return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Introducing Skaar into the MCU opens the door to numerous prospective ventures, the most anticipated of which is likely to be a Young Avengers squad. Long-foreshadowed by introducing new characters like Kate Bishop, Billy & Tommy Maximoff, and America Chavez, the Young Avengers, may finally materialize sooner than imagined. In addition, fans may finally get a project focusing on Bruce Banner and other Hulks, like Planet Hulk or Son of Hulk. Also, there is a revelation that Todd Phelps used Walters’ blood to evolve into a Hulk himself.
Throughout the first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, there were several memorable guest appearances, but none more surprising than that of Skaar. Audiences should anticipate Skaar’s return in some manner, especially because it was Feige’s idea to introduce him. However, Tatiana Maslany’s last series update hints that there may not be a She-Hulk season 2. Those intrigued by the character’s cameo in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will be pleased to know that he might be featured prominently in upcoming MCU projects.
