According to The New York Times and Associated Press reports, Ashton Kutcher and Ellie Kemper were two of the many Hollywood celebs that ran the New York City Marathon on Sunday.
Kutcher participated in the marathon to raise money for Thorn. Thorn is a non-profit technology business Kutcher co-founded to combat the online sexual exploitation of minors. Over a million dollars were donated to his cause, as stated on his website.
Ellie Kemper, the star of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Office, ran to raise money for The Brotherhood Sister Sol, a Black-led organization dedicated to racial justice and equity.
The other participants were T.J. Holmes and Chelsea Clinton, the cohosts of Good Morning America’s third hour. Lauren Ridloff from The Walking Dead and Eternals and Claire Holt from 47 Meters down and The Vampire Diaries also ran in the New York City Marathon 2022.
Athletes such as Olympic gold medalist in hockey Meghan Duggan and retired New York Giants running back Tiki Barber were also included, along with a pair of reality TV competitors, Matt James (star of The Bachelor) and Zac Clark (contestant on The Bachelorette).
Kenyans Evans Chebet won the men’s race by crossing the finishing line in 2 hours, 8 mins, and 41 seconds. While Women’s race was won by Sharon Lokedi, who was clocked to finish the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 23 seconds.
