Avril Lavigne received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Wednesday. She expressed her immense amazement at the honor, not believing it could happen.

The Canadian singer and songwriter exclusively told Fox News Digital that it was something she had never expected to receive when she began her music career when she was only 16. As a teenager, she recalls visiting the famous street. She had just dropped out of high school to pursue her dream of becoming a singer.

Lavigne also brought along a photo of herself from the mentioned trip, wearing the same hoodie she wore during the ceremony.

“I mean to get a star today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an absolute dream come true. I can’t believe it. I visited L.A., Hollywood, for the first time when I was 16, and this is me here photographed on that trip. I was wearing this hoodie, which was my favorite hoodie in high school,” she said. “Never in a million years did I think I would have a star, and I feel very blessed and grateful and I’m happy to be making music still today.”

Machine Gun Kelly, her friend and fellow musician, was there, and he wholeheartedly praised his friend during a Fox News Digital interview. He said he still hopes to write songs that resonate strongly with her fans.

He complimented Lavigne for her dedication to being real with her fans. He told the sources that Lavigne never puts on a show, always remaining her authentic self. “[She is] so far beyond an image and really is a rock star,” he elaborated.

“Those songs have been in my life since I had arm hair. Just thinking about the fact that she wrote those songs at 17 years old, that are songs that me now at 30 is, like, striving to write,”

He also said:

“It’s so appropriate. That’s who you want to envision getting stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is someone who comes to the town of dreams and makes it happen.”

Lavigne also talked about how special it was for her to be able to honor Shania Twain, the country music icon, at the ACM Honors. She spoke about how it was amazing to perform with Twain at 14 and how that helped her build her career.

“I was just at the ACM Honors. I just honored Shania Twain with the Poet Award and performed her song ‘No One Needs to Know,'” Lavigne said. “I sang on stage with her when I was 14 years old. I won a contest through a local radio station to sing with her. Of course, that was super helpful and created a buzz around me.”

She continued that how incredible it was for Twain to support up-and-coming artists. She truly acknowledges Twain as her inspiration.

“I think that’s so cool that she would do that for younger artists,” Lavigne said. “She’s amazing. She’s inspired me very much. She’s an amazing songwriter, and she’s a Canadian who kicks butt.”

We wish Lavigne all the best for her future endeavors in the music industry.

She is so deserving of this honor, and has lived her life as a Proud Canadian (Beer plug).
Now, as a veteran of this industry, maybe she can skateboard over to that annoying
Beibler kids house and smack dome sense into him.
