Barry Keoghan constantly texts one of One Eternal’s actors.

Barry Keoghan has admitted that he is regularly in touch with the rest of the cast to find out the latest information about Eternals 2. Eternals, the first film in the series directed by Chloé Zhao, debuted a new superhero squad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Keoghan takes on the role of the Druig, a character famous for his mind-controlling abilities. Even though several of the heroes were killed off in the film, he managed to escape harm and will certainly return to the MCU at some point.

However, Marvel Studios has not yet announced when the sequel to “The Eternals” will be released. With a few exceptions, like Thor, who just earned a fourth solo picture in Thor: Love and Thunder, most solo MCU films come in a trilogy. Keoghan is aware of this. Thus, he has expressed his amazement at the lack of information regarding the team’s return to the big screen. Nevertheless, there is an assumption that their collective storylines will continue in Eternals 2 whenever it is released. Even though they can feature in other MCU projects on the schedule.

In an interview with UPROXX, Keoghan admitted that he regularly texts some of his fellow Eternals co-stars to find out the latest news. He singles out Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo) from the picture for one main reason. Take a look at the whole quote below from Keoghan:

Kumail is always the one I’m texting. I’m like, “Yo, have you heard anything on Eternals 2?” Kumail knows everything. You know what I mean? He loves comic books. The comic world…

Well, I’m always texting him like about San Diego Comic-Con. I’m like, “Hey, are we going to San Diego for Eternals?” but I’d love to see where it goes. I really would.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo, Kevin Feige and the rest of the Marvel Studios crew could have made an official announcement about Eternals 2, but they remained silent. In fact, very little is said about it during publicity events like press junkets. Since Eternals 2 may not come out until the conclusion of the expanding Multiverse Saga, the franchise may simply be focusing on more pressing projects at the moment. However, until there is an official brief stating the Eternals sequel is not occurring, there is no reason to worry. This is because Marvel Studios has not made any public comment regarding the probable sequels Shang-Chi 2 or Doctor Strange 3.

I wonder how the rest of Keoghan’s co-stars feel about the silence over Eternals 2. When he asked Nanjiani what was going on, he didn’t pass along Nanjiani’s response (if he had one). One of the drawbacks of the MCU’s quick expansion is that it has resulted in delayed sequels. Marvel Studios has retained a small but tight-knit team led by Feige. They cannot understandably regulate all these projects. Therefore they have to prioritize. In any case, Keoghan’s enthusiasm is encouraging since it suggests he will be prepared to dive into production on Eternals 2, whenever that may be.
