The series follows Marcus Fenix, a soldier tasked with spearheading a last-ditch effort to wipe out the Locust Horde and restore humanity. A few days ago, it was reported that Netflix and The Coalition would work together to create a live-action Gears of War film adaptation. There has been no announcement of casting. However, there is a clear frontrunner for the lead COG soldier.
After hearing that Netflix was making a Gears of War movie, actor Dave Bautista relaunched his campaign to play Marcus Fenix on Twitter. The former WWE star turned actor re-expressed his desire to portray the role of the soldier. He posted an old promo of him donning the COG armor and captioning it, “I can’t make this any easier.” Moreover, Gears of War developer Cliff Bleszinski has publicly backed the former wrestler’s casting as Marcus Fenix.

The video he posted was actually a trailer for a Gears of War 5 downloadable content pack that put players in the role of a resurrected Marcus Fenix modeled after Bautista.
