James Gunn has announced the casting of Nico Santos in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn was supposed to helm the third episode of the MCU film series in 2014, but he was sacked from the project in 2018 following controversy for provocative tweets. However, Gunn was re-hired some months later, and production on the picture began in November 2021. The third instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise will be released on May 5, 2023.
Nico Santos will feature in the film, according to Gunn’s tweet. Santos is best known for his roles as Mateo on Superstore on NBC and Oliver in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians. While Gunn did not divulge Santos’ position in the film, he did laud him for being “hilarious, brilliant, and nice.” Gunn also said that he and Santos got engaged during the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
