At Comic Con Experience 2022 in Brazil, a new banner announced that Henry Cavill’s Superman has rejoined the pantheon of DC heroes. Collider reports that Cavill’s Kryptonian hero appears on the banner with those of other DC Comics heroes like Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson), Batman (Robert Pattinson), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).

After leaving the DCEU in 2017, it seemed like Henry Cavill’s version of Superman would never return. Even though it was a spur-of-the-moment decision rather than anything that had been planned in advance, Cavill returned in Black Adam’s post-credit scene thanks to Johnson’s doggedness behind the scenes. Now that Henry Cavill’s Superman is prominently featured in DC’s ads, it’s clear that he’s back for good and will be integral to the franchise’s future.
The new banner features Cavill’s Superman alongside various DC series mainstays who have found their own niche in the market. Aquaman, starring Momoa, became the first $1 billion movie in the DC Extended Universe, and now he’s back for a sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Since Gunn and Safran’s reorganization of the DCU was only announced, it seems doubtful that Cavill’s next Superman appearance will be confirmed during CCXP 2022, which takes place from November 30 to December 4. It is expected that Gunn and Safran will present Warner Bros. with a 10-year strategy for the DCU in the near future. The discovery will be made early in 2023, and the news will spread quickly. Meanwhile, the fact that Henry Cavill’s Superman is included alongside the other DCU heroes on the new banner is encouraging news for those hoping that he will play a significant role in the future of the brand.
