It will be ten years since the last Twilight movie was released. This franchise created a considerable buzz and generated global attention between 2008 and 2012. There were a few controversies back then, but many more memes now.

The series was an adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s four-novel series. The paranormal romance is available on Netflix.

This franchise of five movies had everything, from handsome vampires and dangerous wolves to a confused teen girl who draws the attention of everyone.

Whether you are a seasoned audience of the Twilight saga or new in the area, watching it in the correct order is the only to understand the plot thoroughly. So here we list down the five Twilight movies in order:

Chronological order

It is straightforward to keep track of The Twilight saga for two reasons. One, there are only five movies in the series. Two, the release dates align with the plot timeframe. Keeping track of titles can be the only challenge for binge viewers. Here are the Twilight movies in chronological order:

2008- Twilight

2009- Twilight Saga: New Moon

2010- Twilight Saga Eclipse

2011- Breaking Dawn: Part 1

2012- Breaking Dawn: Part 2

Release order with dates

Although the release and chronological order of the Twilight series are the same, we list them down with release date (mm-dd-yy) for information purposes.

Twilight (2008)

Director: Catherine Hardwicke

Writer: Stephenie Meyer

IMDb Rating: 5.2

Runtime: 2h 2m

It is the first movie watched in the Twilight saga. It is the first time that Twilight introduces the audience to Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). She is a seventeen-year-old girl who moved from Arizona to Forks so she could live with her father. Her father is the police chief of the town.

Her first impression is that of a clumsy girl who finds an instant connection with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Edward is a vampire who cannot resist her blood. However, there is a tweak. Edward and his family are unlike the typical blood-thirsty vampires who hunt humans to quench their thirst. Instead, they have consciously developed strong resistance to human blood. However, they satiate their blood requirement by feasting on beasts.

So, realizing his immense attraction to Bella’s blood, Edward tries very hard to maintain distance from her. However, his struggle goes in vain. The first Twilight film centers on this struggle, giving us some unintentionally humorous moments.

Also, Bella develops a friendship with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) in the first installment. Jacob’s family is in a rivalry with Edward’s family. Watch the movie and find out why!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

Director: Chris Weitz

Writer: Stephenie Meyer

IMDb Rating: 4.7

Runtime: 2h 10m

The New Moon shows a twisted romance between Edward and Bella. They are in love but not together due to the events that occurred on her birthday. Instead, Bella found comfort in Jacob’s friendship. Jacob is now a werewolf. (Bella seems to have an attraction toward non-human entities).

Alex, Edward’s sister, unexpectedly comes to Bella and asks her to help save her brother. Watch the movie to discover whether Bella will travel to another continent and rescue her love. Or she would prefer to stay in the comfort of Jacob’s friendship.

Runtime: 2h 4m

Someone thirsty for Bella’s blood returns from the past. They are head-bent doing anything to achieve what they want. Edward and Jacob are on the same page for the first time in the third Twilight saga movie. They both want to save Bella. However, on the other hand, they are also rivals to win Bella’s attention.

Will the boys become friends? Most important, who will Bella choose?

Breaking Dawn-Part I (2011)

Director: Bill Condon

Writer: Stephenie Meyer

IMDb Rating: 4.9

Runtime: 1h 57m

Bella Swan and Edward finally get married in this movie. They decide to spend their lives together and honeymoon. Soon Bella gets pregnant. They are confused about whether humans and vampires procreate. Their marriage resulted from uncontrollable love for each other, but no one has thought about the outcome. What will happen? Will Bella give birth to a vampire or a human? The Breaking Dawn first part beautifully answers all these questions.

Breaking Dawn-Part II (2012)

Director: Bill Condon

Writer: Stephenie Meyer

IMDb Rating: 5.5

Runtime: 1h 55m

The last one is basically the beginning of the end. In the final installment, Bella Swan has already decided to keep her newborn vampire. Her baby is an immortal child. She is ready to give her own life to save her child. The intent to keep the mother and baby safe at any cost brings Edward and Jacob together for the first time in the entire saga.

But the happy news spread like wildfire and reached people and malicious vampires. The Cullen family prepares their army to combat the war against those causing mysterious killings in Seattle.

So far, it was the end of the saga. However, we can expect the reintroduction of our beloved characters from the movie with some new entries. We would love to see what becomes of Bella’s and Edward’s child.
