Jason Momoa explains the meaning of his tweet that revived speculation about Zack Snyder’s return to the DCEU. Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel launched their comic book movie franchise about a decade ago, and a lot has happened in that time. Despite the many setbacks, restarts, continuation, and canceled projects, Snyder’s departure remains a hot topic among the fandom. It was, therefore, assumed that the Aquaman actor was suggesting in his cryptic tweet that Snyder is taking a new DC movie under the new management. Also, his tweet came out soon after James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed co-CEOs of the DCU, solidifying the assumption. In a video, Momoa expressed his excitement about receiving the wonderful news of his life. He also professed his love for a mysterious “maestro,” who many assumed to be Snyder.
But in a new interview with CinemaBlend, Momoa clarifies what he meant by his previous comments. He says that whatever is happening behind the scenes is not related to Snyder coming back to DC and that he is delighted that Gunn and Safran will be in charge of the franchise moving forward. Below is the full text of Momoa’s remark:
“Those two have no relation. It was two days of amazing news. That one is like beyond, that one trumps the DC one. No. No, no, no, no. You have to dig deeper. It’s the Holy Grail. And it’s different than the DC thing. And I really can’t say anything. That’s it.”
Snyder’s rocky history with past Warner Bros. executives is well-known. The director had a rough experience with the financial side of working in the DCU, from interference with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice to being replaced by Joss Whedon on Justice League. However, Snyder’s reentry to the DCU is more probable than ever. The influential factors are the new leadership at DC Films and Gunn’s willingness to take fan feedback into account (not to mention his peer-level friendship with Snyder). It should be noted that the conclusion of Zack Snyder’s Justice League set up future films in the series.
Snyder’s potential comeback to the DC Universe is still up in the air. The cryptic post-Momoa made has nothing to do with Zack Snyder or the DC Comics universe, as Momoa himself has stated. His tight friendship with Snyder, who was important in casting him as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, suggests that he won’t be hostile to Snyder’s return to the DCEU. However, with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, the prospect of a new Justice League film has increased. Gunn and Safran may be tempted to grant the petition to Restore the SnyderVerse in light of the ongoing pressure to do so. After all, the foundation for the story has already been laid.
It would be wise to hold off on investing in rumors concerning the franchise for the time being until DCU officials release a formal update. Gunn has remained silent regarding the DCEU’s future. However, after dealing with Kevin Feige, it’s likely, that he isn’t ready to reveal any significant plot points just yet. The latest speculations have been put to rest by Jason Momoa. However it probably won’t dampen supporters’ enthusiasm.
