Jordan Elsass, the Jonathan Kent of Superman & Lois, has finally spoken out about his sudden DC exit. Elsass played one of the twins of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Superman & Lois was premiered on the CW in January 2021, with season two concluding in summer 2022. the fans are looking forward to the Season 3 premiere in 2023. However, this time, there will be significant changes in the series.
One of the biggest developments is last week’s announcement about Elsass’s departure from Superman & Lois in season 3. Warner Bros. TV released a formal statement regarding Jordan’s exit. However, the details have been kept under cover so far. The new plan is to recast Jonathan Kent’s character for the third season of the series. So far, the actor’s name has not been revealed. Also, no one has directly addressed Jordan’s exit until now. But, finally, Elsass has spoken out to tell the specifics about his exit from the hit CW series.

Elsass recently recorded a Cameo video for one of his fans via TVLine. The young actor expressed his enthusiasm to work in season 3. However, he wants to keep his mental health foremost. Therefore, he would leave the franchise despite his desire to continue his role as Jonathan Kent in the series. He made the decision after reevaluating his other career aspects.
“It’s been a tough few weeks, as you might imagine, with everything going on with the show. It’s sad. It’s a real shame. I know that I was pumped for Season 3, for sure, but what are you going to do? Anyway, mental health is definitely a 100-percent priority. It’s the pinnacle. It’s got to take precedence. And mine has been … the last couple of years … it’s been rough. I need some time to myself. I’m still debating whether I’m even going to act for a while. I may go in a different direction. I know that’s definitely going to be disappointing to some people.”
It’s not the first time for CW to experience a sudden recast for a major role in the DC universe. The most significant departure was that of Ruby Rose from Batwoman following the first season. Her exit largely seemed to be rooted in behind-the-scenes issues.
While Jordan’s exit reason was also grounded outside the series, his decision is more personal on the actor’s part. The 20-years-old actor is just preferring his health and well-being, unlike other Arrowverse who left due to controversial issues.
Many fans are even admiring Elsass’ decision to keep his well-being above everything else. Several celebrities have taken a similar approach in recent years. Moreover, the audience is now more aware of the behind-the-scenes life of their beloved actors. They understand that their favorites sometimes struggle with their well-being, just like any other non-celebrity person.
We would say that Elsass’ directness about his struggle will be an inspiration to other young actors. Though the third season of Superman & Lois might face an unexpected hurdle, we only hope the DC family will support its member in this decision. We also hope that Elsass returns somewhere in the DC multiverse very soon.
