Jonathan Majors, the Kang actor, reveals that he and the director, Destin Daniel Cretton, have already begun discussing The Kang Dynasty. Note that this Avenger movie is yet in the very initial process. Having made his first appearance in Loki as He Who Remains, Majors is set to become the Avengers’ next formidable foe. As Thanos’s successor, he faces the enormous challenge of trying to live up to the bar established by Josh Brolin in the Infinity Saga. However, Majors will reprise the role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania before taking the lead in his own movie.

Blade and Avengers: Secret Wars are just two of the movies that have been pushed back as part of Marvel Studios’ new reorganization of their release roster. However, the release date for Cretton’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has not changed and will still hit theaters in 2025. So while the MCU keeps laying the stage for the next pivotal event, information on the film’s plot remains limited. Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is at the helm of Avengers 5. While Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania screenwriter Jeff Loveness is busy writing the script for Avenger 5.

Majors reveals to Variety (via ComicBook) that he has been talking about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty with Cretton. However, his current concentration remains on playing Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Since there has been no confirmation of his return for Loki season 2, it is unknown if the actor is scheduled to star in any other project in the interim. Though Majors and the director of Avengers 5 only worked together briefly, he had nothing but praise for him. Have a look down below for the actor’s full quote:

“Well, we just had a few chats. We spoke a very long time, and he’s an open mind, he’s an open heart, and he’s grounded. He and the work that he does is grounded, and I think that’s the most important part about it, that we’re dealing with myths, you know? What is a Kang? What is a movie? What is an MCU movie, you know? What does that mean? What does that look like? Those are the questions we’re asking, but all of that works when it’s grounded and really, really tucked into the given circumstances of what’s going on between these people, and what we can illuminate for ourselves as a species.”

What are the implications of these early discussions for the Kang Dynasty?

As such, it’s hardly surprising that Majors and Cretton are already plotting Kang’s role in the events of Avengers 5. He’s the main character. Therefore the film will naturally devote more time to learning about him, particularly when they’ve never collaborated before. So, it’s possible that they’re just talking to get to know each other. In any case, judging by Majors’ comment, it sounds like they hit it off right immediately. It’s also important to note that Marvel Studios has always valued feedback from members of the cast and crew. Thus, the early inclusion of Majors in the production of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is consistent with the team’s spirit of cooperation.

Similar to the situation with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the Russo Brothers and writers have also begun developing Avengers: Infinity War right after Captain America: Civil War was released. Kevin Feige states that Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars will be larger in scope than the Infinity saga due to the potential inclusion of a larger cast. As a result, additional planning and production time may be required. The writers and directors of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” have until early next year to settle on the film’s final plot details before filming can begin.
