Obi-Wan saves Reva’s Life.
Obi-Wan Kenobi introduced new faces to intrigue fans during its short run of six episodes on Disney+. The third sister, Moosa Ingram’s Reva, was one of the most prominent among the new introductions.
Most of the show reflects Reva tracking down Ewan Obi-Wan Kenobi. The plot shows her using Blair’s Princess Leia to lure him out. Eventually, the final episodes revealed that she was nurturing hate for the Jedi Master since her youth during Order 66.
The finale depicts Reva seeking out Skywalker. However, it was only for the Inquisitor to hand the boy back to the Beru and Owen. Reva also revealed her reluctance about turning into Vader to Obi-Wan.
In the end, Reva’s story in Obi-Wan Kenobi is left open-ended. However, we now know that it was not the original ending. The news was rotating in the fan club before the finale that the makers changed Reva’s fate. The fans foresee the tweak as a reason to accommodate an extended story in Season 2. One of the project’s writers has recently confirmed the news by shedding light on Lucasfilm’s initial plan.
Reva’s Original Fate
The Direct’s Nathan Johnson revealed Reva’s original fate in his exclusive interview. Stuart Beattie, Obi-Wan Kenobi writer, also discussed Reva’s original plans in his draft for the Obi-Wan Kenobi film.
When asked about the early drafts and Reva’s role in it, Beattie revealed that she was his creation. He further elaborated that he created her character with a very negative view of the Jedi, not giving any knowledge to the character about the true identity of Darth Vader, who was Anakin. In his original draft, Beattie has crafted Reva’s death at the Vader’s hands to save Obi-Wan. Beattie originally thought that even though the third sister has a vital role in the plot, her death would strongly impact the ending.
The writer also confirmed that there were no other inquisitors in the initial Obi-Wan Kenobi draft. It was just Reva in the original plot. The writer wanted Darth Vader as the main antagonist in this story, who will fight with Obi-Wan one-on-one throughout the show. So, Reva actually was the resulting character.
Beattie has described how exploring the Order 66 fallout helped him to inform Reva’s character, taking her to a place of understanding:
The writer also mentioned the struggle of bringing stakes to craft a prequel project with Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. The prequel would also enable Reva to allow for McGregor to have “someone to defeat or someone to save:”
Fan’s POV
Some fans compare the Third and Second Sisters. The second sister is one of Reva’s fellow Inquisitors from Jedi: Fallen Order. She has a similar history and arc to Reva.
Beattie has also revealed Reva’s potential link to Trilla Siduri. He says that the Third Sister was created even before the video game was released.
In any case, the original draft involved Dart Vader killing Reva. She was to sacrifice herself for Obi-Wan. However, now we know that the writer has tweaked the plot to keep her alive. It leads us to deduce a second season with Reva as one of the main characters.
Many fans were expecting to see the Grand Inquisitor or the Darth Vader killing Reva in the final episode. But instead, she didn’t even have another encounter with either character. Also, Obi-Wan lets her go, making it clear that there is more to her story that we will see in the second season of the show.
The season 2 possibilities
In case there is a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, we foresee Reva along for the ride. Now that she has built a relationship with Obi-Wan, there is a possibility of an extended storyline. Probably, she would come to aid him when he needed help. In addition, the scenario can provide an opportunity for her character to prove herself to him.
Beattie has also briefly mentioned in his interview that Commander Cody was in potential consideration, adding credence to the rumors of Clone troopers’ reappearance. Perhaps, the Lucasfilm will consider these expectations and thoughts while bringing the show on the air for a second round.
For now, enjoy Obi-Wan Kenobi’s streaming on Disney+.
