New Sneak peeks of season 3 of The Mandalorian hint at further adventures for Din Djarin and Grogu. Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, took off his helmet in the season two finale of The Mandalorian to say a heartfelt farewell to Grogu before the latter left with Luke Skywalker to become a Jedi. There wasn’t much time between their separation, though, for they eventually found each other again in The Book of Boba Fett. In the concluding chapter of The Book of Boba Fett, we find Din and Grogu leaving Tatooine in their Naboo starfighter, with an endless future stretching out before them. The third season of The Mandalorian will take place on the planet of Mandalore, as seen in a trailer released earlier this year.
The third season of The Mandalorian has been teased further with a new video shown at Comic Con Experience 2022. According to Collider, the footage seen in Brazil is an extended cut of the season 3 trailer for The Mandalorian, which premiered earlier this year. The season 2 conclusion will see the bounty hunter, Din, and his companion Grogu travel to Mandalore, where the bounty hunter will have to face the consequences of his actions once he removes his helmet. There are also brief glimpses of Kowakian monkey lizards, Coruscant, and Grogu continuing to show off his Force muscles by moving a heavy object. Mando (Gary Oldman) is confronted by Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) elsewhere on Mandalore.
How The Mandalorian Season 3 Can Further Develop Din & Grogu’s Bond
Since the first episode of The Mandalorian concluded, the show’s main focus has been on the developing relationship between Din and Grogu. After Grogu saves Din’s life using the Force, he takes it upon himself to rescue the boy from Imperial forces and act as a surrogate father figure for him. The father-son dynamic between them has developed further over the series, and this is set to continue in The Mandalorian’s third season.
Din accomplished his goal of reconnecting the Force-sensitive being with his own species, which he believed to be in the latter’s best interests. In The Book of Boba Fett, however, when Grogu is given an impossible choice, he turns his back on the Jedi and their rigid beliefs in favor of reconnecting with his old friend Din and going on some exciting new adventures. But Grogu did learn the ways of the Force while training with Luke. With a civil war ready to break out between Din and Bo-Katan on Mandalore, Grogu will likely utilize his Force talents to aid his friend, altering the traditional role of protector.
Given that Grogu has abandoned the Jedi path and Mando has been expelled from the Creed for refusing to wear his helmet, they are each other’s only living relatives at this point in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. In doing so, the show can explore new depths in the connection between Din and Grogu. Fans will have to wait until March 1, 2023, to see the duo again, as that is when season 3 of The Mandalorian will premiere.
