Sony Pictures Spiderman franchise suffers two major setbacks as the studio has postponed the release of Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. While Sony partnered with Marvel Studios on Tom Holland’s Spiderman trilogy, the former attempted to launch its own cinematic universe using characters like Morbius and Venom. Both mentioned entries of the franchise were scheduled to release in 2023.

Variety reports that Sony has extended Kraven the Hunter’s release by ten more months, while Madame Web has been delayed four months. Kraven the Hunter was originally scheduled to debut in theaters on January 13, 2023. However, it has now been delayed to October 6, 2023. Note that Madame Web held that date previously. The new schedule has inevitably forced Madame Web to change its release date from October 2023 to February 16, 2024.

Kraven the Hunter will open one week before the Exorcist 2nd sequel, and one month before Marvel Studios’ Blade, the next comic-book superhero movie. Madame Web was moved to a date previously held by an untitled Marvel Studios movie that has been moved to September 6, 2024. Sony Pictures had originally set this release date for Chris Pratt Garfield’s film. However, with Marvel moving out of the date, Sony pushed Garfield to summer 2024 so Madame Web could benefit from the February weekend with the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by  Dakota Johnson.
