Star Wars fan-favorite character totally flips its most-memed quote.

The Star Wars franchise has no shortage of memes and oft-repeated quotes. However, the latest comic adventure flips one of its most famous in a rather terrifying way. Of course, the franchise fans are familiar with multiple favorites (Anakin’s hatred of sand, Obi-Wan Kenobi holding the high ground, etc.), and occasionally writers pay tribute to the sayings. But Star Wars #27 reveals that none other than Lando Calrissian repeats one of Return of the Jedi’s most famous memes – and gets it completely wrong.

Star Wars has many memes and often-repeated quotes. But the most recent comic adventure turns one of them, and that too in a terrifying way. Many of the most beloved Star Wars characters are well-known to fans for their quotes (Obi-Wan Kenobi holding high ground, Anakin’s hatred of sand, etc.). Sometimes, writers even pay tribute to these sayings. However, Star Wars #27 has shown Lando Calrissian repeating one of Return of the Jedi’s most popular memes. But, unfortunately, the character has flipped it in a way that the context is totally changed.

Although Lando, a hero today, is the former administrator of Cloud City known for being a quick-thinking charlatan. At the time of Return of the Jedi, he used to care more about himself than any Rebellion spreading terrorism across the galaxy. Lando betrayed Han Solo and Leia when he allowed the Empire to capture the Rebel heroes. The Empire could have won if it weren’t for a change of heart at the last minute. Lando, however, now fights on the right side in Return of the Jedi. However, his tendency to suspect that others are cheating him has not diminished.

Star Wars #27 is written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Andres Genolet. In the issue, an Imperial Shuttle is fleeing from the Empire. The pilots are a husband-and-wife duo who intend to defect with valuable information. They also have their children aboard. Lando Calrissian is suspicious when he hears the request for aid. Lando says, “It’s too easy.” when Lando is asked why he thinks the shuttle was a trap by Imperials and perhaps Darth Vader. He replies, “It’s too good to be true, and if it ain’t true…it’s a lie.” Lando’s assumption is completely off the track, but he isn’t aware of it.

Admiral Ackbar’s “It’s a trap!” line from Return of the Jedi is completely flipped here. Lando’s thoughts are revealed by the use of the meme. He naturally suspects that the shuttle is a trap, as it’s the same thing he would have done during his smuggling days. This comic was also created before the third film. So, Lando has yet to prove himself to be a hero in the rescue of Han Solo from Jabba’s palace.

Lando’s assessment is wrong in this instance. Moreover, Lando’s instincts may have destroyed two defectors. Star Wars fans will not be surprised to learn that the Admiral Ackbar joke meme has been transformed from a humorous gag into the cause of a tragic accident. Star Wars is a long-running franchise with many shared memes and moments. However, Lando Calrissian’s use of the line in his mistrust of other people has resulted in a defeat for the Empire and Rebellion and potentially the deaths of innocents.
