As the next installment of Batman’s animated franchise is being released, audiences eagerly await the sequel. Batman now has his own Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse crossover in epic DC fan artwork. The animated film, released in 2018, explored Miles Morales’ origin story. He is bitten by radioactive spiders and develops spider abilities. Kingpin opens up parallel universes and makes him join the superhero world. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. It won Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and was also given a Sony sequel order.
In the 80 years that Batman has been around, there have been many on-screen depictions of the masked character. These range from the less-than-stellar Adam West TV series and Joel Schumacher-helmed movies to Christopher Nolan’s more grounded Dark Knight trilogy. After experiencing interconnected universes through Ben Affleck’s Batman in DC Extended Universe, Batman would have another chance at his solo live with Robert Pattinson’s The Batman. This film received widespread acclaim and was a huge box office hit. Now with both Affleck and Pattinson’s versions having future plans, one fan had an idea about how everyone could get together on the big screen.
Lyle Cruse, an artist, shared a unique form of DC fan art that combines Batman and the Marvel world. This art gives Batman his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse-inspired crossover. It borrows character models from Sony’s animated movie to envision Batman and Robin working together to defeat various foes, including Deathstroke and Bane.
Fans of Batman will find the idea of an animated crossover featuring multiple Batman characters intriguing. It would be especially true if the animation took a similar approach as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as seen in the DC fan artwork. The Sony film received wide acclaim from fans for its ability to combine the stories of its many Spider-People. It wouldn’t be difficult for audiences to accept a story like The Dark Knight, considering that Batman has already been animated with comedy slapstick in The Lego Batman Movie.
Although a Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse crossover might not be possible for Batman, audiences will soon experience a new kind of multiverse team-up. According to the DCEU, the Flash movie will feature Michael Keaton and Affleck as Batmen. However, some are unsure about the future plans of the DCEU’s Batman franchise, with Affleck’s appearance in Aquaman and Batgirl out of the picture. Note that the Flash will be in theaters on June 23rd, 2023.
