When it comes to nostalgic moments, Twilight movies instantly come to mind. Many of us were obsessed with the series back in the day. It was a successful adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s four novels of the same name. Audiences fell in love with actors like Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Ashley Greene. The new update is that apparently, we could have enjoyed Taylor Swift too in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. However, the New Moon director, Chris Weitz, declined her request to appear in the movie.
Chris Weitz took the wheel of the New Moon in late 2008. He successfully brought the franchise’s werewolves on screen for the first time. In an interview with Melanie Howe and Ashley Greene on the Twilight Effect podcast, Weitz shared fascinating information. He recalled how Taylor Swift’s agent told him about the singer’s wish to cameo in the New Moon. Seemingly she was also a huge “Twi-hard” and wanted to be a part of the saga, even in a small way.
“Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time, and he said, ‘Taylor would like to be in this movie, not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard,’”
Weitz further recalled the agent’s suggestion that Swift could be a diner or someone at the cafeteria because she just wanted to be a part of her favourite project. However, Weitz regretfully had to decline the offer because Swift’s superstardom could have been a potential distraction.
“The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything,”
It was a difficult decision for Weitz because, apparently, he is also one of Taylor’s many fans. But according to him, his decision was in the movie’s best interest. He said:
“I kick myself for it, too, because I was like, ‘Wow, I could’ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift. We could have been friends.'”
Unfortunately, Taylor Swift, a 19-year-old at that time, didn’t make her Twilight dreams come true. However, Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift later starred together on Valentine’s Day 2010. She also had a brief relationship with the actor in the mid of Team Jacob. So, maybe she did get in on the Twilight action?
