As Henry Cavill returns to DC in Black Adam as Superman, Zack Snyder, the Justice League director, congratulates him. As the franchise started with Man of Steel in 2013, the DCU will embrace its tenth year of success in 2023. The film was directed by Snyder and featured Cavill as Superman. It was the first pivotal chapter in Warner Bros.’s decent effort to introduce a superhero cinematic universe equivalent to the MCU.
Additionally, Cavill and Snyder collaborated later in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. The film was released in its original version on HBO Max in 2021. However, following Joss Whedon’s controversy on the sets of Justice League, the DCU went through the motion. Meanwhile, the studio attempted to determine how to move ahead with its superhero franchise. Thereby Snyder walked on to collaborate on his own Netflix properties, and Cavill was brought back as Superman in Black Adam – where he made a brief appearance that hinted at bigger future events.
However, Cavill appeared on Josh Horowitz’s podcast after his comeback in Black Adam. He discussed various topics on the podcast, including his comeback as Superman. Snyder goes on to send a special video message in a Q&A session during the podcast. He asked the question about shooting Man of Steel from Cavill. While in the end, Snyder ended his video with a sweet message for the actor, stating:
“I simply can not wait to collaborate with you in the coming years, and of course, you are one of the greatest Superman ever.”
The Black Adam served as the initial move in Cavill’s next chapter as Man of steel in the DC Universe. Whereas many are wondering if Snyder will ever come back to the franchise – despite the various fallouts between Snyder and the studio, as well as CEO David Zaslav deciding to take over when the Warner Bros. Discovery partnership ends. While the majority of the former regime is also gone now. So if DC Studios, prompted by James Gunn and Peter Safran, are looking to continue Snyder’s tier in the future – the chances are better now when DC Movies are still in the game with Walter Hamada and his squad.
However, if Snyder and DC Studios are willing to work together again, the director is currently working on various projects. He is presently focusing on Rebel Moon for Netflix, with a sequel already made official for the streaming platform. Snyder also has an Army of the Dead sequel, Planet of the Dead, coming out for Netflix; hence a move back to the DCU might be a few years away. Conversely, Snyder may enter the DC Universe if both sides are willing to make it happen. And it may be possible that he also works with his favorite Superman again as Cavill makes his turnaround.
